A virtual Cookie Swap
Two hosters two cookies! For the
Party, a joint event of SHF and IMMB, hosted by Jennifer (The Domestic Gooddess) and Alberto (Il Forno) I share two of my recipes.
I baked two sorts of cookies, a traditional christmas cookie and another one that I like very much. The last one can be enjoyed throughout the whole year;)
Haselnussmakronen *
4 egg whites
200g sugar
a little bit cinnamon
150g ground hazelnuts
200g grated hazelnuts
a pinch of salt
4 drops almond essence (I use vanilla essence)
Whisk egg whites with the mixer till they get foamy and thicken slightly.
Sprinkle sugar, aroma and cinnamon over and beat. Fold in the other ingredients. For each cookie drop two teaspoons of batter on to the baking sheet. Bake them in preheated oven at 120° for 20-25 minutes. It's important that you know that the cookies dry after cooling.
*This is the original recipe, I baked with the half of the given amounts.
The next one is very easy to bake but very delicious and fine.
Very Orange Cookies ( zarte Orangenplätzchen)
65 g softened butter
125g sugar
100ml orange juice
an orange zest
2 tablespoons orange liquer (instead of this I use one tablespoon orange blossom water)
50g grounded almonds
100g flour
50g sliced almonds
Beat the butter with sugar. Put orange juice, orange zest and orange blossom water in. Add grounded almonds and mix. Stir the flour and mix again. Take a little bit from the sliced almonds aside. The rest add to the batter and mix softly again. Drop one tablespoon of the batter little apart on to baking sheet. Using remaining almond, arrange sliced almonds on each cookie. Bake until cookies are lightly browned along edges, about 10-12 minutes(at about 150°). Let them cool for a while before removing from sheet with a spatula.

And now here another cookie!
I'm hosting a delicious cookie of my sister Gülsen. She prepared almond balls. This one I didn't eat because, they were baked in Germany but I know the wonderful cardomom flavor of this cookies from former times. They are very yummy.
Almond balls (20-30 pieces)
1 egg white
150 g. sugar
200 g. almonds (grounded)
20 g. flour
zest of one orange
½ teaspoon cardomom
pistachios for decoration
Preheat oven to 180°C. Mix the egg white and sugar in a bowl. Put flour and the other ingredients. Form little balls and decorate it with a pistachio. Bake for 25 minutes at 180°C.

Dilek,
all three cookies, both yours and your sisters look and sound absolutely delicious! I think, first I'm going to try the haselnussmakronen. Or maybe the one with the cardamom? Hm, big decisions..

I have checked at least a zillion Christmas Cookie Recipe websites, but have had no luck finding just the right one. Does anyone here happen to have a great christmas candy and cookie recipe to share?

.Hi,Silly Sally used to dread it when Christmas came, Oh not because sally didn't like Christmas. In fact she loved it, but the problem was that her Husbands family would stay with them and she was really embarassed because of her Cooking. Most times the Plates were returned to the Kitchen nearly as full as they left it. Then one Day a family member gave her a slip of paper and on it was. www.recipesnow.net. Silly Sally waited until everyone had gone to bed that evening and jumped on the computer and looked up www.recipesnow.net. The next day there were smiles all around the table and all the plates were empty. Sally looked at the person who gave her that slip of paper and winked with a Big smile on her face. She was no longer a Silly Sally, just Sally. Are you a Silly Sally or have you been to http://www.recipesnow.net##
