SHF#11: Coffeecomb Cake

On Zorra's blog I read the reminding announcement for the event. I checked the theme out and decided to participate for the first time. The theme which loveSicily has chosen was coffee. The nice saying of Sheik Abd-al-Kadir on their (Katia and Ronald) website coupled with my love for Turkish coffee motivated me to take an action. Let me try to translate an old Turkish saying:

"Neither coffee wants my heart nor coffeehouse.
Coffee is the pretext, your company is the cause."

I baked a yeast cake with coffee. The original recipe was with cinnamon and sugar. Instead of these, I used Turkish coffee and an instant chocolate drink mix. Zinnur und me named this cake "coffee balls cake". While I was baking this cake my hard working son helped me out.

Here is the recipe:

For the dough:

3 cups flour
1 egg
¼ cup melted butter
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon yeast
a pinch of salt
½ cup sugar (better taste and put more if necessary)
1 cup warm milk

To roll the balls of dough in:
A mixture of instant chocolate drink mix (Nesquik) and Turkish coffee

Prepare a dough with all the ingredients.
Allow dough to rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
Take hazelnut-sized pieces and roll into balls.
Coat the balls with the mixture of coffee and Nesquik.
Put the balls in the baking pan.
Bake at 160°C for about half an hour.

Serve the cake with a sauce or glaze. Originally sweetened condensed milk was used as glaze. We had vanilla sauce instead.

Today when I was enjoying the cake with a friend, we both thought that it would go well with a chocolate sauce or a coconut milk sauce.Fantasy has no borders and coffee enhances your fantasy!

Here is another nice Turkish saying:
"A sip of Coffee makes you grateful for 40 years."

Thanks Zorra,

Boo_licious thanks, your Capuccino Cheese Jelly Mooncake is so perfect!

Tuhfecigim sagol! tarif Hatice'nin tarifi(tarcinli mayali kek) ben sadece seker ve tarcin yerine kahve ve kakaolu(sekerli) mix kullandim. Icine süt tozu koymadim. Sivi yag yerine erimis tereyag koydum.

Belki fikir olur!

Sevgiler

Shop at your favorite stores 24 hours a day. Why go to the mall when you can shop online and avoid the traffic
